03 · Horse Training

Safe, effective training

Choosing the right facility and trainer matters for you and your horse. Every horse learns at its own pace — and patience, guidance, and good communication are at the heart of how we work.

Crystal has been breaking and training horses for over 20 years. In training, your horse is worked consistently with its progress and ability, and receives constant hay, water, and daily grain (plus any supplements you provide).

Training and boarding fees are due at the start of each 30-day period. Any balance must be paid in full before the horse leaves the premises.

Show off your skills

Competing isn't required — but it's a wonderful option. Winnie's Meadows takes part in a variety of Hudson Valley shows at every level, usually within about 90 minutes of the farm, and we host several events right here at home.

Hunter pace
05 · Hunter Paces

Out across the country

A hunter pace is an event over hunting or cross-country territory, ridden to a set "optimum time" the riders don't know in advance. You ride a set course in a group of two or more — and every jump has a go-around. Students ride alongside our instructor and/or assistant.

Hunter PaceIncludes use of horse & trailering
$165
To participate, riders must be at a walk / trot / canter level, jumping at least cross rails, with some trail-riding experience.
06 · Leases

Your horse, your happy place

Leasing lets you experience horse ownership — the riding, the care, the responsibility — before you ever buy. Many of our clients call their lease time their happy place, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Horses are available for on-site and off-site leases.

¼ Lease

1 lesson a week required, not included.

¼ Lease1 ride per week

½ Lease

¾ Lease

Good to know

Every lease requires one lesson a week, which is not included in the lease price. No jumping without a certified instructor present.

Horses are available for on-site and off-site leases — inquire for details.

Horses at pasture
07 · Boarding

A natural place to live

We strongly believe horses should live as naturally as possible. Our horses live out 24/7 in small social groups with constant forage, and come in only during extreme weather. Most clients choose our rough-board option, though stall boarding is available too.

Rough Board24/7 turnout pasture, small groups
$450
Stall BoardHalf-day turnout, half-day in stall
$550
Run-in shed, all-day hay, and daily grain included. Add-ons (supplements, blanket changes, fly care) are extra. Boarding contract with 30-day notice required. Full-service arrangements available for additional charges.
